“Leonard Bernstein’s America!”

April 25th & 26th, 2026

11:30AM & 1:00PM

The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College

The legendary American composer and conductor visits us in the concert hall for our Nation’s 250th Birthday, and Professor Treblemaker is excited to learn exactly what we mean by ‘American’ music. Mr. Bernstein is thrilled to share, and takes us on a Journey to hear his most cherished pieces, alongside classics by his friends like Aaron Copland. We also explore musical traditions–from Latin to Jazz–that influenced his amazing work... You won’t want to miss it!

Learn all about the legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein as we celebrate our Nation’s 250th Birthday. At the concert, we’ll join Professor Treblemaker as he discovers what makes music truly “American”, hear some of Bernstein’s most cherished works, and explore pieces by his friend Aaron Copland. Along the way, we’ll hear music from Latin rhythms to jazz, meet a wonderful young violinist, and hear a story from our friend Han!

Check out our video Discovery Guide for the concert!
