  • Being raised in Illinois, Samantha began her education at the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign, where she studied flute performance. This is also where she was able to develop a passion for helping to improve her community. She worked with other musicians from the University and surrounding towns to create concerts centered around equal access to contemporary and classical music. Outside of music, she was an elementary school tutor for refugee students and a coordinator of events and volunteers for late stage dementia patients at the Clark Lindsay Village.

After spending a year in Madrid teaching music and English, she moved to Harlem to continue her work and education. Since then, Samantha has completed a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music and worked as an administrative assistant for the Bridgehampton Chamber Music festival. Samantha also continues to pursue a path in flute performance and has most recently performed at the Centre Universitaire Méditerranéen in Nice, France, as well as on NPR’s “What Makes it Great”, Carnegie Hall, and Symphony Center.

Samantha is thrilled to be working with the Little Orchestra Society, and hopes to learn from and contribute to their goals!

  • I was born and raised in NYC, in Harlem. My background is hispanic and my parents are both from the Dominican Republic. I am bilingual and I can read, write and speak spanish fluently. My favorite hobby is traveling, I hate using the term “wanderlust”, but I definitely am one. I’ve done travel in all the possible ways you can think of, with family, friends, group tours and solo travel. I’ve been to 29 different countries, and I’ve explored a few states in the U.S as well. However, my preference is international travel, as I like to learn and explore other cultures and foods. My travel goal is to hit all seven continents by age 40, and visit all of the seven wonders by age 35. So far I’ve crossed off six continents off of my list and when I’m not busy traveling, I’m out being an adventurer. I’m a risk taker and I love thrill, I’ve done everything from skydiving, hang gliding, zip lining, fly boarding and I have much more to go. Growing up I always had a passion for math, but did not want to become a teacher. I also considered becoming a flight attendant because I always wanted to travel the world. Even though I did not pursue any of these two career paths, I’m grateful that the path I chose in finance allows me the opportunity to enjoy both of my passions of math and travel.
