The Little Orchestra Society/Orpheon, Inc. (LOS) presents live music in ways that inspire and educate audiences of all ages while creating a new model for the 21st century orchestra that emphasizes connections with the community. Founded in 1947, LOS is among the oldest professional orchestras in New York City. LOS is particularly well known for its family concerts and has created an array of music education and community engagement programs in the belief that access to live classical music should be extended to all members of the community and that this access is an essential component of lifelong learning. Internationally acclaimed conductor James Judd has been the Orchestra’s Music Director since 2013. His first two seasons with LOS featured concerts at Avery Fisher Hall, New York City Center, the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College, and under the Big Top of the Big Apple Circus, as well as the Orchestra’s Brooklyn Academy of Music debut at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House.
