Welcome

The Little Orchestra Society's 2012-2013 season is shaping up to be one of dynamic, delightful programs -- unforgettable events that will include the New York City Premiere of Disney Fantasia Live in Concert, Tubby the Tuba narrated by the iconic Patti Smith, and the triumphant return of the beloved holiday favorite, Babes in Toyland.   Each of these programs is a gem of live music and theater. These Happy Concerts productions, combined with the colorful and inspiring series of Lolli-Pops concerts for little ones, will present yet another memorable LOS season of vivid performances, both cutting edge and classic, for the entire family.  The new season will feature an exciting roster of guest conductors, culminating in the announcement of the new Music Director next spring.

Now concluding its 64th season, The Little Orchestra Society performed its inaugural concert at The Town Hall on October 20, 1947, and has since been devoted to performing innovative concerts of classical music for both adults and children. In its 63 years, the Orchestra has given many important premieres and launched the careers of major musical talents in its Concerts for Adults. Under the direction of Dino Anagnost from 1979 to 2011, The Little Orchestra Society has offered music education and concert programs that are dedicated to entertaining and educating New York Metropolitan Area children and families. The Orchestra’s programs include the Lolli-Pops™  Concerts for children ages 3-5, the Peabody Award-winning Happy Concerts for Young People for children ages 6-12, and the Concerts for Adults series, which includes Vivaldi's VeniceSound Discoveries® and Cathedral Concerts-Great Music Under a Byzantine Dome®.
