Welcome
The Little Orchestra Society's 2011-2012 season includes a talented roster of Guest Conductors, a brand new family program celebrating music and dance of the Americas, the return of our original puppet and dance production of Prokofiev's Cinderella, and a new Lolli-Pops concert for 3-5 year olds that explores the rhythm and beat of New York City. Join us as we embark on an exciting new path into the future!
Now in its 64th season, The Little Orchestra Society performed its inaugural concert at The Town Hall on October 20, 1947, and has since been devoted to performing innovative concerts of classical music for both adults and children. In its 63 years, the Orchestra has given many important premieres and launched the careers of major musical talents in its Concerts for Adults. Under the direction of Dino Anagnost from 1979 to 2011, The Little Orchestra Society has offered music education and concert programs that are dedicated to entertaining and educating New York Metropolitan Area children and families. The Orchestra’s programs include the Lolli-Pops™ Concerts for children ages 3-5, the Peabody Award-winning Happy Concerts for Young People for children ages 6-12, and the Concerts for Adults series, which includes Vivaldi's Venice, Sound Discoveries ® and Sound Discoveries ® and Cathedral Concerts-Great Music Under a Byzantine Dome®.
