Was named after Felix Mendelssohn's Little Orchestra of London

Is the second oldest professional union orchestra in New York City

Presented the first professional concert for children in New York City in 1948

Introduced Lolli-Pops™, New York City's most popular children's concert series for 3 to 5 year olds, in 1986

Began New York City's love affair with Antonio Vivaldi in 1990 with its series, Vivaldi's Venice

Began in 1995 a major concert revival of Victor Herbert's great operettas with the American composer's original orchestrations

Has been in the forefront in championing 20th century composers with its Sound Discoveries™ series at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall

On October 20, 1997, Mayor Rudolph Guiliani proclaimed “Little Orchestra Day” in New York City.
