Lowell J. Hershey
Since 1967 Mr. Lowell J. Hershey has performed extensively in the New York City metropolitan area. The Little Orchestra Society s principal trumpet since 1981, he has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the Westchester Philharmonic (principal since 1982), the American Composers Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, St. Luke's Chamber Ensemble, the New York City Opera, visiting orchestras as an extra (Berlin Philharmonic, La Scala Opera Orchestra, London Philharmonic), ballet orchestras (New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Royal Ballet, Royal Danish Ballet, the Joffrey ballet, Paul Taylor, Martha Graham, Alvin Aley), City Center's Encore series, and over 20 Broadway shows since 1970 (currently, since 1988, as principal trumpet in The Phantom of the Opera).
Mr. Hershey has recorded for the Little Ochestra Society, the American Composer's Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Westchester Philharmonic, the American Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Gregg Smith Singers, Broadway show cast albums, PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS, films, records, radio and TV commercials, and the CD of his singer/songwriter daughter, Betina Hershey.
Mr. Hershey, born in Wichita, Kansas, studied at Wichita State University for two years as a student of Walter Myers before transferring to the Juilliard School of Music, receiving BM and MM degrees while studying with Edward Treutel.
