Meet Andrew Schwartz, The Little Orchestra Society's Principal Bassoonist, who currently holds The Loren Glickman Principal Bassoon Chair.

Mr. Schwartz has appeared throughout the world as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. His varied and intriguing career ranges from frequent appearances with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, to jazz recordings with Wynton Marsalis and children's concerts with The Little Orchestra Society. He has also appeared with New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, Orchestra of St. Lukes, Orpheus and the New York Pops. Mr. Schwartz is the Principal Bassoonist of The Vermont Mozart Festival, Scandia Symphony, as well as solo bassoon with the New York Chamber Soloists.

Additionally, Mr. Schwartz is one of the most sought after musicians on historical instruments. He is Principal Bassoon with The Handel & Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, New York Collegium, and The American Classical Orchestra. He has performed with many of the world's premiere period instrument organizations, including Philharmonia Baroque, The Aulos Ensemble, Wien Akademie, Apollo's Fire, Hanover Band, Tafelmusic and Rebel. He was Principal Bassoon of the Royal Drottningholm Court Theatre Orchestra in Stockholm, Sweden for fourteen summers.

Mr. Schwartz's most recent solo appearances include Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York; the Musikverien in Vienna, Austria; Jordan Hall in Boston, Massachusetts; Vermont Mozart Festival in Burlington, Vermont and featured soloist with New York Chamber Soloists on a tour of Spain.

Mr. Schwartz has recorded extensively, including the entire chamber music works for winds and the late Operas of Mozart for Decca/L'Oiseau Lyre. Additionally, he can be heard on Deutshe Gramophone, Harmonia Mundi, RCA, Sony Classical, Telarc and Virgin Classics.

A native of Chicago, Mr. Schwartz received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Juilliard School.
