The Orpheon Chorale

The all – professional Orpheon Chorale has performed in all of New York City's prestigious concert halls, toured the United States, recorded music for films, and joined national and international symphony orchestras for programs of the great choral classics.

Founded by Dino Anagnost, The Orpheon Chorale presented the premiere choral concert at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall. It has also collaborated with numerous American composers including Virgil Thomson and Aaron Copland, and has performed as the chorus in residence for Carnegie Hall's Rossini Opera Festival.

Metropolitan Singers/The Greek Choral Society, an artists-in-residence participant at Teachers College, Columbia University, presented its initial concert at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in 1978 under the baton of its founder and music director Dino Anagnost. A volunteer ensemble of 80 singers, it is known for its concerts of rarely presented choral masterpieces and for its specialty in Greek music. The Choral Society has offered both American and world premieres, performed in concert with celebrated guest artists, and has appeared repeatedly on major network television. On invitation from the President of the United States, it has sung in the East Room of The White House and performed in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building by special invitation of the United States Congress. In addition to its Lincoln Center concerts and its performances on the Sound Discoveries™, Vivaldi's Venice, and Cathedral Concerts–Great Music Under a Byzantine Dome series each season, the Choral Society has sung extensively on tour and has offered summer concerts with classics from the American musical theater at Damrosch Park Bandshell, Lincoln Center.

Open to all excellent singers who love choral singing on a volunteer, fee–based membership. For auditions, call 212-971-9500, x129 in September and January.
